This was done just to annoy you and to make sure it doesnt match your asthetic desires. Sonos will make sure and call before their next manufacturing decision and ensure you approve. Maybe put some white tape over your keyboard so you cant put this stuff on the internet.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The grill? Good question. Rarely do I see light colored grills as they show dirt, and dust as it collects on the grill. Most grills are dark or dark colors that I have seen. Not too many white ones. I never thought about it.

I thot the same thing when I first looked at their product page: White speaker should be all white. Just as Bobo said, you choose black or you choose white; one isn't looking as much for a checkered version.

The actual speakers are black, and a white face would not hide or mask the speakers as well as the black does. I am looking at my SONOS 5, and can make out the speakers’ frames, but not the black cones. I’m fairly certain they both would really stand out with a white front. I suspect most people would not like this, and for this reason the front cloth covers of speaker cabinets have traditionally been black. Black also hides dust/dirt better than white.
