“I have a large room 25 by 25 feet and sixteen foot ceiling. I currently have the playbar, sub, and 2 sonos play 1s for rear surround. My question is would play 5s better fill this room and can the gen 2 play 5s be used as rear speakers in a 5.1 surround”

It depends but in general yes it’s better than the sound bar by itself and yes it can be used as rears although it’s so much better than that. I’d rather have two of them for forward facing music all by themselves
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The sonos 5 will definitely make what you have more effective. The sound and the base has increased with the addition of the the sonos 5 to my sonos 1 and sub.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have four gen 2 5’s. I was told they could also be used as part of a surround sound system. You will get better base throughout the room. I have 2 fives paired and two in other parts of the house not paired. I love them either way!
