It ou buy it then you get the code then type in the code in the playstation store and you get online currency

You are going to get the code on your email, and you are going to need to redeem it on your PS platform.

You purchase the card, then they send you an email to activate it. You use the code to activate it on your PlayStation account then use the funds to purchase games, etc.

It can be used from the psn store. It's an option near the bottom of the menu under redeem code.
