There is a port for cable wire so I would say yes. You would just not get the 4 d ultra clear picture effect with cable.

Yes, You can use the TV with traditional Cable TV using the HDMI connection with no problems.

Not sure what you mean by 'traditional cable.' This particular Sony TV is capable of receiving signals delivered via cable, satellite, internet, or broadcast over-the-air. Virtually all cable companies are either in the process of upgrading to 100% digital HD or have completed the upgrade. Traditional local network stations are required by law to broadcast over-the-air in digital HD, but you may find a station or two in your area still broadcasting an old analog signal. I would expect old analog stations to either convert to digital HD or disappear entirely very, very soon. The Sony XBR49X800D 49" CLASS ANDROID 4K UL television is capable of receiving any digital or analog content out there.
