I had Best Buy Techs install the TV and they were able to setup so that the soundbar is controlled by the remote and comes on and goes off with the tv

Provided that both the TV and the soundbar should support Bravia Sync (for Sony devices) or Control for HDMI feature. Plese note that operation is not guaranteed if the soundbar is not compatible with HDMI-CEC or Bravia Sync.
