Yes. It doesn’t have to be completely dark but if there is a lamp or window behind you it will show. I’d recommend watching some reviews on YouTube and decide for yourself. Personally it’s not been a huge deal to me and I have a 10 foot wide floor to ceiling picture window to the right of the tv. But that window faces north so no direct sunlight.
