“Just so I understand, the 4K signal works through any of the 4 HDMI ports, but for anything with a 120hz refresh rate I'd need to use the 2 HDMI 2.1 inputs, correct? And what is pushing 4K 120hz besides gaming consoles? Is streaming or 4K blu ray?”

Hi Newbie, thank you for your question. Yes, all HDMI ports on this unit support 4k. The HDMI (3) and (4) support the HDMI 2.1 standards. The 4K120hz is for next-gen gaming. Currently, streaming services and 4k Bluray titles will render good enough in 60hz. ~Earl
