The 940E is a 2017 model, the 900F a 2018 model. Both have full array backlighting, the X1 extreme chip which is Sony's top of the line processor, and Dolby Vision HDR once Sony updates the 900F with new software. As far as differences: the 940E is going to have slightly better contrast and local dimming (overall brighter whites and deeper blacks), whereas the 900F has better motion processing. The "response time" component of motion in the 940E has gotten less than impressive reviews meaning some people have experienced some "trailing" or "ghosting" effects from fast action like sports. As a 940E owner, I personally haven't experienced any motion issues whatsoever, even while playing fast action video games. I can't comment on sound since I use a soundbar but they should be comparable. For a more in depth comparison, check out the side-by-side on rtings.com.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m terms of over all picture quality I think the 940e is better. The sound on both are about the same, and yes the 900f is a 2018. It should be hard to find a 940e the black levers on the F is. It as good as the 940e. The 940 is really heavy if that matters.
