• I will guess at this one, go to the device the hdmi arc cable is plugged into and plug your digital optical cable into that device not the TV ,

• Hi Multipleaudio, Thanks for your inquiry. If you're trying to output sound to two different external audio systems, this particular function is not supported when using the ARC and optical connections at the same time. ~Ralph
