“I have AppleTv 4K - it previously ran through my home theatre rack set-up. This will be a stand alone set. Do to the lack of HDMI, will I b able to connect? I read there’s no Apple app, but this is the Apple box. So Airplay only?”

You can connect your AppleTV directly to the TV via HDMI since both your Apple TV and this Sony HAVE that ability and those connections.
