Does this tv require professional calibration in order to look good? Or is the picture quality good right out of the box??? null

If you buy gold plated speaker wire, you would want it calibrated, the rest of us will just be fine with remote in one hand and adult beverage in the other admiring the view.

Kidding aside, it's calibrated at the factory with equipment that costs millions of yen, so is not needed for us mortals.

Hi Calibration,

Thank you for your interest in the BRAVIA XR A80K. Calibration is not necessary. Initial set up procedures are quick and easy to complete. Picture settings is more of a personal preference. The quality of the source is also a big factor in getting an excellent picture quality. Having said that, picture mode settings provide preset adjustments for the type of picture you are viewing. Picture settings also allow a wide array of changes to color, contrast, motion settings, and brightness that can improve the viewed content on your Google TV.

This great TV provides excellent picture out of the box. Our A80K features XR OLED Contrast Pro technology, powered by the Cognitive Processor XR, adjusts brightness for higher peaks in glare and deeper blacks in shadow while XR Triluminos Pro enables a wider palette to reproduce each color with the subtle differences seen in the real world.
