If you buy gold plated speaker wire, you would want it calibrated, the rest of us will just be fine with remote in one hand and adult beverage in the other admiring the view. Kidding aside, it's calibrated at the factory with equipment that costs millions of yen, so is not needed for us mortals.

Initial set up procedures are quick and easy to complete. Picture settings is more of a personal preference. The quality of the source is also a big factor in getting an excellent picture quality. Having said that, picture mode settings provide preset adjustments for the type of picture you are viewing. Picture settings also allow a wide array of changes to color, contrast, motion settings, and brightness that can improve the viewed content on your Google TV. This great TV provides excellent picture out of the box.
