Before purchasing my new 75 X90K, I was using an older 75 XBR 850D edge-lit model. (Think Full array local dimming vs. Edge-lit) I can honestly say that the older set's viewing angle is very slightly better when it comes to viewing off angle, but there is more of a color drop off at larger angles with the edge-lit set. The X90K is not bad at all, but you will notice a difference if you will be sitting at a large angle. It's very subtle, but there is a difference. If you watch a lot of TV in the dark at large angles, then you might want to consider an OLED. My set is in my living room and I routinely watch it from an angle in another room when working from home on my PC. No issue for me at all. Just remember, the more the angle, the worse it gets. Tip 1 - Go to BBuy and watch darker content at the larger angle to see if you can deal with it at home. Tip 2 - Get a tabletop TV stand from Fitueyes or Perlesmith that "swivels" and call it a day. Ultimately everyone has different tolerances and even different eyesight, so the best bet is go into a local Best Buy which has one on Display (even if it's not the size you're looking at) and go stand to the side and determine for yourself whether or not it's "bad" Remember the lighting in the store will most likely be worse than what you have at home, so the image and viewing will improve at home. Now onto my experience with the 85". On bright and vibrant images there isn't a perceivable loss when far enough back (take diagonal measurement and multiply by 1.25 and that should be the minimum viewing distance) on dark scenes or screens with lots of black details you lose 10 to 15% of the detail. Does it distort the image, no, you just don't see as fine of detail, still looks better than entry Samsung or LG sets. What I suspect may be the issue for some of the extreme critics is the set is either most likely oversize or possibly undersized according to ideal viewing distances. With an 85" the ideal minimum distance away from the set should be approximately 9 feet, the optimal viewing distance is approximately 12 feet and ideal maximum is 15 feet. With that being said, you'll find things that state you can be as close at 7 feet or as far away as 25 feet. If you're in the 7 to 9 foot or 16 to 25 foot range, you'll definitely experience more degradation to image quality on side angles. Ultimately though you should view the set in a store on display and before going to the store to view, figure out what your viewing distance and angle is going to be, and go into a store and look at the set. Another thing to consider is what type of content are you going to be viewing and ask the sales person to pause the demo or jump to a particular area that best represents the content you'll primarily be viewing.

To give you reference that would be about 6' out from tv and about 10' to 12' to the side. Im very pleased with mine. Hope that helps any

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have this tv centered in between four theater chairs with total width of 120” and all chairs see it equally well. I do not see people fighting for the center seats. I actually like the end seat. Every one gets plenty of proper viewing.
