A couple of major differences between the Sony a5100 and a6000 are that the a6000 includes an electronic viewfinder (sometimes called an EVF) in addition to the rear display; and it has an Exposure Mode dial. These are two very important difference that affect usability. Both camera have a APS-C size sensor, which potentially puts the camera's image quality on par with DSLRs. And both camera have 24 MP sensors, which can give you highly detailed photos.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The biggest difference that you'll notice is that the a5100 does not have a viewfinder, so the LCD is the only way to frame your shot. This isn't a problem for indoor or low-light photography, but may become an issue outdoors in bright light, where the sun and glare may prevent you from adequately using your LCD screen (think about how hard your smartphone is to see in bright light). Additionally, the tilt screen in the a6000 does not flip up and over the camera like the a5100 screen does, so selfies are a little more blind in the a6000 than the a5100. But that hasn't been an issue at all for me. The included 16-55mm lens is wide enough to capture selfies without too much trouble, even without a screen to frame things up.

It has a hotshoe to attach external accessories like flash. Itt also is faster at 11fps vs 6fps. The A5100 is touchscreen. Best regards, Zander
