• There is a hot shoe on top of the camcorder and an external microphone jack in the front, both are covered with a door that flips open.

• Yes there is one on the side of the camera towards the front.

• Yes, there is a standard microphone mini jack and you can control the input level manually or leave it on auto. I have found it works best if I control the level manually.
