Hi apaw, Thank you for your inquiry. No, the Z9F supports wireless and wired connection. You may connect this soundbar to the TV or AV devices wirelessly via Bluetooth connection and wired using Analog Audio Cable or Optical Digital connection or HDMI connection. You can also listen music from devices via Bluetooth connection, Chromecast built-in, USB, or with an Analog Audio Cable. Connecting the subwoofer and additional rear speakers to the soundbar are wireless. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The sound bar has to be connected to the tv via an HDMI cord. The subwoofer just has to be powered. Not sure about tethering to other devices but rear speakers can be added and connect via bluetooth, they just need power.
