All li-ion camera batteries, regardless of manufacturer, are shipped partially charged. Using them before they are fully charged can reduce the usable battery life and in rare instances cause the battery to fail prematurely. The initial charge time can take several hours, so plan ahead. When purchasing a new camera always read the User's Guide on Instructions for Setting Up Camera before use.

I have always thought that the right thing to do before using any battery charged device is to fully charge the battery before using it, so I did it. Tommy
