Yes it does. I have 8 ohm speaker now and its not the best for it. My volume is always at 25 or higher to get any sound. This is an entry level amp and not ideal for a traditional hi-fi setup. Its just enough to get music for blue tooth connection and FM stereo. I would pay extra to get the right amp if looking for a hi-fi setup and not this one.

The higher the impedance rating in a speaker, the less power is lost in transmission which means that more power can be used for volume and low-frequency response (bass). For this receiver, we recommend connecting speakers with impedances of 6 to 16 ohms. Hope this helps! -Sam
