Hi dave, You cannot use the speaker connected to your TV and use it on the AV receiver. I use a Bluetooth transmitter, that I happened to have, to play my smart TV sound through the receiver to my speakers (I didn't have the optical audio connector required for my TV. ) I also play music via Bluetooth from my tablet. My CD/DVD player is hard wired to the receiver. Inputs can be selected using the remote control.
