Hi Andy, thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, no. you can only control this receiver via the supplied remote control and by pressing the buttons on the unit itself. The Bluetooth function of this receiver can be connected to a smartphone or tablet so you can listen to your music. Hope this helps! -Sam

Once I turn on the receiver and set its input to BlueTooth, I control the receiver's volume by raising or lowering the volume on the tablet I am streaming from.

Please try again later.Yes you are able to control stereo receiver functions via blue tooth, on, off , playlist or music provider ie Itunes and volume on bluetooth channel however you cannot control or lets say charge it from channel to channel. Like bluetooth to radio you cannot do.
