Cannot use 2 pairs (4 speakers) at 8 ohms. This receiver has a minimum of 6 ohms. Using 2 speaker pairs of 8 ohms, the receiver will "see" a total of 4 ohms. This will send the receiver into protective mode - or possibly damage the receiver.

Please make sure to set the appropriate speaker impedance for the speakers you are using. Please follow these steps: Press AMP MENU. Press up/down arrow to select “SP IMP.”, and then press OK. Press up/down arrow again to select the appropriate speaker impedance, and then press OK. Be sure that the “8 OHM” option is selected. And also, if the word PROTECT or PROTECTOR appears, there may be an external speaker issue or connection issue that is triggering the protection circuit. Please refer to the link below to isolate this issue. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/audio-components-receivers-amplifiers/str-dh190/articles/00025095 Regards, Sam .
