I purchased this unit and am running Thorns turntable, reel to reel, dual cassette deck and Denon CD player. Also running an old Kenwood EQ hooked to unit. Speakers are Cerwin Vega 3way 12” 250 watt. The unit dose not have Main out and inputs so you have to hook to tape in and out for EQ. Far as the bass response well, the unit is built on old school principles I’d say so the size of your woofers and power needed to run them would make a great deal of difference in sound. But, even at low volumes running large speakers the bass response was as I would expect, I do cut back on the treble settings. Clarity is very good but if your looking for booming bass I’d hook a 3way 12 inch speaker system that would run off lower watts to get bass desired at low volume. I myself have found no problem even without EQ at low volume. Basically I bought this receiver to operate turntable and 4 ohm speakers, dose exactly what I wanted but be warned I’m old school and like loud music so if I’m listening to music on low volume, I’m really not listening. Hope this answered your questions.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on your speakers really. It’s a stereo receiver so it’s not going to give you the base like a 5.1 surround will. I got it to listen to my records as well and am very pleased with it.
