That is the expected behavior of the system. Any input to the receiver using HDMI will automatically turn on the receiver when the device comes on and it will switch to that active input. That is a convenience feature. If you connect the TV to the receiver through a non-HDMI means this will not happen. Just curious, why would you want your TV on without using the receiver for sound?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think I can answer this for you. If you have the tv hooked up to the receiver using the ARC inputs on both the receiver and tv the receiver will automatically turn on when you turn on the tv. In essence, everything runs through the receiver. It has what they call pass through. The problem I am having is that after I shut everything off, when I turn the tv on of course the receiver also comes on but it never automatically connects to the correct input. I have to use the tv remote to change the input to the correct one. Which if you are using the ARC input it is number 3. Good luck.
