• Yes, you have to hook up the TV to the Player with a HDMI cord. That is how it hooks up. It's great!

• Hi there, yes you need to purchase the HDMI cable to connect the blu-ray player to your TV. The BDPS-1700 model doesn't have a supplied HDMI cable. Thanks! ~Erin
