I have a different model of the Sony recorder with the same slide out USB connector. This is the Achilles heal of an otherwise outstanding product. The USB stopped making a connection to the USB slot, so I cannot charge the lithium battery anymore. Also, I cannot automatically download the recordings into my laptop using the provided Sound Organizer software. I have plugged the recorder into 3 laptops and multiple USB slots on each laptop. The Sony recorder is not recognized - no connection via the USB connector to the USB slot. Since I still have a need for a recorder, I am researching the current models. My suggestion is that when you plug this into the USB lay the recorder on something so that it does not just "hang out there" but rather the weight of the Sony recorder is supported. Sony - please correct this problem. I was unable to find any solution. I do not need a new recorder, but am forced to buy one due to the problem with the slide out USB connector.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Easy fix is to attach a USB extension cord (has male USB one end other end female), and can be found in variety of lengths in a great many places. This adds a lot of flexibility in placement. Slide out USB ports can and usually do develop connection issues in my experience.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your answer does not provide additional information or a fix. Your answer describes the operation, which is that you slide out the USB connector on the Sony recorder and then insert it into the computer USB slot. Since the USB connector on the Sony recorder is not recognized by the computer, this problem makes the recorder useless because the recordings cannot be downloaded onto the computer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the USB fitting slides out and you just plug the whole thing in to a USB port
