My experience is all NC headphones can have some breakthrough noise depending on conditions. Having said that I believe these HPs have the best NC available. Google best NC Headphones and you will get some good reviews to consider. Only other HPs in Sony class seem to be Bose 700. Best Buys has both. Try them out and it is my understanding BB has good return policies anywhere from minimum 15-45 days depending on item.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi CapeCodder, Thanks for your inquiry. The WH1000XM4 has an improved noise canceling function specifically for high frequencies. It is also very effective at removing everyday ambient noise. The noise canceling function works primarily on noise in the low-frequency band such as vehicles and air conditioning. Although noise is reduced, it is not completely canceled. These should be pretty effective at canceling out noise and even more so if you have audio playing while the noise cancelation features are on. -Ralph
