I don't think so - about the mute button, but when I am watching Youtube videos on my CPU and I quickly tap the power button it will pause the video. Tap it again and it restarts. I am not suire if this feature would pause and restart other media. Yes, works fine with a laptop. I use them with my desktop, but have also paired them with my laptop, phone, Ipad, etc.
