• Hi Tmaule, Thank you for inquiring about the WH-XB900N. The noise-cancelling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. Although noise is reduced, it is not completely cancelled. I hope this helps! -Jess

• Great sound canceling I use mine to cut the grass and music is all I hear .

• I was able to hear music while power washing the fence, but not when using the lawn edge trimmer. Maybe that was due to the power washer having a cord and hose, so I was kind of distant from it.
