“I just recently received a pair of Steelseries Arctis 5s, and my problem is I can't hear anything through the headphones they are plugged into the USB port, but I can hear through them when they are plugged into the headphone port. P.S. I'm using a mac.”

SteelSeries 5 is designed to be plugged in either 3.5 or USB to get the 7.1 soundsurrpund and RGB effects. On PS4 you use it through 3.5 port on controller or connect it to the USB on the console. On Mac make sure to change the input and oitput of yous sound by making sure to select SteelSeries 5
