Yes on the left ear muff there is a button

The headset has a physical mute switch you can feel change position depending on state, as well as a light on the mic you can visually check. Every function you can access with the controller you can also access from the headset using the dial and button underneath.

Yes there is a mute button on the headset that has a tactile click in and out. The mic has a red led that indicates when the mic is muted. Very nice feature.
