“It keeps shutting off when I ask it to play a CD? everything else works fine and it turns on but shuts off when I press play. does anyone else have this problem and how can I fix it?”

Replace the batteries. I had the same problem and realized the batteries were low, changed them and got it working again. Also check the bottom there is a hold on/off switch
