this model only recorders over the air channels. you connect antenna to it and a external hard drive set it up to your wifi you will have to have roku or fire stick are streaming device. not sure about recording cable channels

Please try again later.No. Tablo can be used only for recording over the air received by a remote mounted antenna receiving broadcasted from stations in your area, Tv cable companies have cornered the TV cable market and are going o become extinct like the dinousar due to their greed. The newest wave of the future lies in the reception of streamed video obtained through internet providers and channels provided by it. Competition amngst channel providers will keep them honest for awhile. Internet providers are another story. Not enough competition, ridiculous prices. Here inVirginia Beach, Va. area I am receiving 64 local signals via Tablo, but it still requires WiFi to feed my five TVs. Internet is something we need, few reliable choices. All too expensive.
