• not sure I would get a usb tuner like Hauppauge 1191 win TV-HVR-955Q so easy to record to computer they are cheaper .

• From this question it looks like you're way past me when it comes to tech knowledge. It's got a USB port through which you connect the hard drive. It reformats the hard drive for its exclusive use.
