It scans whatever is in range, different cities may have different programming. Tablo doesn’t give everyone the same thing. Remember, this unit gives your antenna a big boost for more channels. You’d only get 40 or 50 without it. We scanned and got 103 channels,

I live about 25 miles west of Philadelphia and have the antenna pointed due east toward the main antenna farm at Roxborough in Northwest Philadelphia. My antenna also picks up a couple of stations in South Jersey (to the southeast), and a few more near Allentown (to the northeast). These are all added to my Tablo channel scan. When I enter my location/Zip Code, the Tablo matches the channel numbers with the TV stations in my area, and populates the channel guide accordingly. This works very well for all of the station in Philadelphia, South Jersey, and Allentown.

For subsequent scanning your zip code would already have been set. Scanning for TV channels will also depends on the quality of your antenna.
