“When you connect an exterior hard drive to the Tablo,is it plug and play , or do you have to format the hard drive in order for the unit to recognize it.If you have to format, is there an automatic screen that pops up inviting you to format?”

Hi John- Thanks for reaching out! You will need to format the hard drive once you connect the Tablo. You will then need to go to 'Settings' in the Tablo app and there will be a button to start the format process.
