My 17" Dell fits. The corners were a little snug when you initially put it in but I didn't struggle with it. Once it's in the pocket, it doesn't hit the top of the backpack and there was still room on the sides. Hope this helps! =)

Yes it would fit perfectly in the bag. It has a pocket for just the laptop itself.
