“The remote for this tv does not have Voice Search, and I have read that the Voice Search using the phone app is spotty. Will the remote from my Roku Ultra, that does have a good Voice Search, work with this tv without having to plug in my Roku Ultra?”

Yes. You just need to pair it with the TV. I’m using the remote from a Roku Ultra 4670 with my s535.

As you mentioned, you can download the free Roku mobile app on your Smartphone or tablet to use as a remote.
