Yes. Use the supplied power cable. Then you can install up to 3 HDMI cables. Use remote to turn on. HDMI with signal present will be listed. You can also enter your WiFi settings to connect to home WiFi.

Then you need to select the correct input from the Home Screen. Try the Power On feature, when enabled, the TV turns on displaying the last used input. To activate it, go Home > Settings > Display & Sounds > Power On and select Last Input.

What HDMI port on the tv is the HDMI cable coming from the output on your cable box. Turn your tv on with the remote that came with your tv. Use the roll wheel and scroll down to the HDMI port. Just like you select Netflix. Now you have you use your cable box remote.

Not sure what you meam by HDM cable. My set is plugged into the wall, cable box is plugged into the wall. I control the tv with its dedicated remote and the cable box with its remote. Last I tried to run the on/off through the cable box it did not work. But thay was a different tv.
