You can download the CNNgo app (you need TV service provider credentials to watch live TV), MSNBC app (you need a TV provider to watch full episodes on-demand) and the NHK World Japan app.

HI, I know that you can download apps for NBC and MSNBC so you can watch in real time. CNN is a little different. Unless you have a cable provider you do not get real-time shows (as far as I know) but there app is good at updating the latest stories in watchable "chunks". I am unfamiliar with NHK and how they would function.

I have not totally cut the cable - i retain my subscriptions with Xfinity. What is cool is a beta app of Xfinity stream now available for FireTV and FireStick that emulates the interface on my home set top box. This includes my ability to get to the shows that are on my DVR.
