If your computer has a HDMI output, then connection is simple. Otherwise, I’d recommend using a compatible video source to HDMI to allow connection I use a lightning to HDMI cable to connect either my iMac or MacBook Air and use the TV as additional workspace instead of just mirroring the computers output.

Yes, if you use the HDMI video connection. There is though the issue of resolution, a 1080p screen is around 1920x1080, 720p is lower so the best TV to resolution would be 4K if you go beyond a 27" screen.
