“Is it necessary to log in to amazon to use this tv, or can you power it up and just use the HDMI inputs (e.g., not have it connected to a network), if you don't need to use the apps?”

I have not logged into amazon, Just hooked it up via HDMI cable, it works wonderfully.

Hello Marty, thank you for your interest in the Toshiba 55C350KU. If you do not want to use the apps, you are able to skip the internet connection and set the television to power on to the last used input instead of the Fire TV home screen. To do this, please go to Settings > Display & Sounds > Power On > Last Input.
