• I use mine with a Macbook Air and 2009 Macbook, so I'm confident it can be used with a newer Macbook. Using Disk Utility, you can easily format the drive several different ways.

• I've used several Canvio drives that reportedly only work with Windows but I can hook up to my MacBook Pro and it automatically re formats to Mac
