Hi! Keep in mind that updating the firmware your Twinkly device have to be connected to the network, usually the process takes a few seconds. Anyway, in case of need please do not hesitate to contact us via the Help section of our Twinkly official website!

I think it depends on the Twinkly app stability, your wi-fi stability, and how many lights in the string. The more lights, the longer it seems to take. If it's been 35 minutes, you can close the app and try to do the update on non-peak internet hours. If it takes more than 15 minutes, it probably is best to try at another time. Good luck. Have lived through this with 13 sets of lights and about 3 sets that I haven't been able to upgrade yet because it tests my patience every time.
