• No to both. You can unscrew the plastic "bulb" but the light is coming from a circuit board connected to the cable.

• Dear Linda, we confirm that you can unscrew the bulbs (not the LEDs inside). Instead, please note that it is not technically possible to cut the string to shorten it. Hope this helps! Regards
