If you purchase the HDHomerun Prime model it will allow you to record both OTA and Cable channels. The catch is, you will still have to pay for your cable service and in addition there is a subscription fee to use HDHomerun dvr service. By the way, I think the Prime model is not available through Best Buy.

Unfortunately for various reasons that service ended. The CONNECT DUO does also support ClearQAM, which is a form of cable TV that doesn't use any DRM or cable box. If you are lucky enough to be in an area with ClearQAM support, you can get channels like ESPNU through the DUO.
