“Can this device itself be connected to the router via WiFi or it must be connected via Ethernet cable? The reason I am asking is because my router is no where close to where the antenna gets the best reception.”

The community answers here are all pretty correct. In particular, you can string ethernet cables a long ways without any loss of signal or you could consider invest in a mesh system like Google Wifi offers, which will give you the double benefit of improving your wifi throughout the house and allowing you to put your HDHomeRun CONNECT DUO wherever you like.

Please try again later.It has to be connected to router via Ethernet cable, once it is connected to the router any device on your WiFi and wired network can receive the signal of the two tuners included. I have mine in between the router and the antenna. I run a long enough regular coax cable from the antenna and long enough ethernet cable from the router to keep the HD HomeRun somewhere in between where there is a power outlet. The is a Signal GH app in Apple AppStore which you can buy to find the optimal location for the antenna. The HD HomeRun works perfectly for me, it has an app in iPad with which I watch one channel and can watch another channel either on Fire TV or desktop.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The device itself can not connect via WiFi. It can be connected via WiFi extender’s Ethernet port. Make sure the extender can have the same name as the parent WiFi. A powerline Ethernet extender works too.
