A similar thing happened to me which necessitated purchasing a new Eclipse unit hotspot from Best Buy. It turned out that the unit (after only two years of service and after the one year manufacturers warranty ran out) "bit the dust" (died!) with similar on/off button lights as you report. So I purchased a new $49.95 unit from Best Buy, had the SIM chip exchanged between units and it was back working as my Verizon Hotspot!
