Long answer: The usb wifi adapter can be either 2.4 Ghz or 5.0 Ghz. 5.0 Ghz is probably better since this frequency is not used as much. On my computer, plugging in the usb wifi adapter automatically installed itself, and the computer recognized it as a network device. Turn on the jetpack, and configure it with a name and password. On your computer, search for a wifi network. You should find your jetpack. Connect to it, and you are done! Sorry if this too obvious, but you must have a data plan with Verizon that is associated with the jetpack. This is similar to using your cell phone as a hotspot, but specialized for data only.
