“I purchased one of these recently. The bluetooth will not connect to bluetooth speakers or laptops. The turntable is not discoverable by other devices it seems. Did I purchase one with a faulty bluetooth adapter? Is there a way to update the firmware?”

it will automatically connect to the closest/fastest bluetooth receiver, so check to see if another bluetooth device is connected. I had some trouble when it accidentally connected to my tv's soundbar initially, I moved my bluetooth speaker closer. You can also do the factory reset procedure to "forget" previously connected devices - check the manual for the steps for this.
