I do not yet have this player (just looking at maybe getting it). 
That being said, in order to play any records, a player MUST have a needle. And, esp on a player of this quality, they should be able to be replaced.
I plan on playing records from when I was a teenager, over 40 years ago. PLUS, I have 45's in excellent condition from when my own father was in his teens/20's, back in the 50's/early 60's. 
Not worried a bit. :)
