I just tested 1024x768 both in "1:1" mode and in "fill aspect ratio" mode. In 1:1 mode, the monitor presents exactly 1024x768 pixels in this 4k monitor, as a very small window. In "fill aspect ratio" mode, the monitor presents 1024x768 filled vertically with 1:1 aspect ratio (square pixels). The monitor also supports a "picture in picture" mode which shows the full 3840x2160 from the DisplayPort on my main workstation *and simultaneously* the little 1024x768 "window" provided by the HDMI from a separate computer overlaying one corner.
